Description

Conservation, Forest and Land Restoration Projects

The Partnership for Sustainable Development Nepal (PSDN) implements integrated conservation, forest, and land restoration initiatives across Nepal’s diverse ecological zones, from the lowlands at 75 meters to high mountain landscapes above 3,600 meters above sea level. To date, PSDN has implemented four conservation projects and six forest and land restoration projects in close partnership with local communities, community forest user groups, local project management committees, and all three tiers of government. These initiatives align with national forest and climate strategies and contribute directly to global commitments under the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 15 (Life on Land), and SDG 6 (Water-related ecosystems). PSDN has restored 1,130 hectares of degraded land through the plantation of over 510,000 native tree species, including 475 hectares located within high fire-risk zones. These efforts generate an estimated 12,750 tons of carbon sequestration annually while strengthening biodiversity, ecosystem services, and community resilience. The initiatives are supported by international partners including Plant-for-the-Planet, Restor, and The Flow Partnership.
